Anglo - German WLB Study

Last updated: 07/09/2006 - 10:45

For 30 years the Anglo-German Foundation has contributed to policy-making in Britain and Germany by funding bilateral research and discussion of issues which challenge both countries, and by making the results of this work available to decision-makers, practitioners and their advisers.

The Foundation aims to promote best practice in each country by providing access to information, ideas and experience from the other. It gives away grants of about ?500,000 each year to support projects contributing to this aim.

Minor grants are available for bilateral research, conferences and seminars addressing a wide range of social and economic policy issues. Major grants however will be available only for projects addressing an aspect of the Foundation?s four priority topics, one of which is Work-Life Balance.

For a survey of the current state of knowledge in this area, as well as pointers to possible future work, the Foundation has published Work-Life Balance: Towards an Agenda for Policy Learning Between Britain and Germany.

This survey report analyses the political context, the legislative frameworks and the policy developments in an area that is now widely termed 'work-life balance' in both the United Kingdom and Germany. It also looks at the theoretical notions of time in relation to work and family life and gives examples of research in the public, private and voluntary sector.

Purchase a bound and printed edition of the report (dispatched same day if ordered before 2pm).
