Scots Like It Hot

Scots love super-spicy curries, according to a new survey. Glasgow came out as the top spot for hot curries, with Edinburgh second and Inverness third in a specially compiled league table.
Curry lightweights live in the south west of England, according to the survey. People in this area came out tops for liking the mildest curries.
Indian food expert Andy Brocklehurst says even he was surprised how hot the Scottish like their curries. "There were times in Scotland when the food was so hot we didn't know whether to call for water or a fire extinguisher," he told the Edinburgh Evening News. "Most of the dishes which are mild in England were raging infernos in just about every Scottish restaurant and take away we visited."
And the hottest dish in the UK? Beef vindaloo from an Indian restaurant in Glasgow. "Only someone with an asbestos tongue could have eaten it, yet all around us, there were dozens of people tucking in to similar dishes and obviously enjoying themselves," said Brocklehurst.
