The Wombles
Created by Elisabeth Beresford in 1968, The Wombles have been British folk heroes for years and are famous for turning trash into treasures and ingenious inventions. With slapstick humour and clever wit these furry creatures are constantly providing children and viewers of all ages with a new adventure. Remember you’re a Womble! These environmental champions are characterised by the wonderful voices of actor Bernard Cribbin's - who also narrated Moschops and Sylvanian Families - and, created by master-puppet maker Ivor Wood (whose credits include Postman Pat, The Herbs and Paddington). This compilation contains the first 12 episodes, and contains some interactive extras: Meet the Wombles – 3 character biographies. Bungo’s Brain-Teasers – a quiz to test your knowledge about the show.
Paddington Bear
Paddington Bear holds timeless appeal to generations both old and new. Available for the first time on DVD with interactive extras, this compilation of 12 episodes is taken from the original 1975 series, narrated by the late Michael Hordern. Dressed in his characteristic duffel coat and oversized hat, loveable Paddington Bear has been capturing the imagination of children for decades. Based on the internationally acclaimed books by Michael Bond, Paddington remains one of the most successful children’s programmes ever produced in the UK. With extras including Paddington’s Puzzlers, an 8 question interactive quiz to test your knowledge of everyone’s favourite bear and meet Paddington & Pals.
Gingerbread Man
“Newly-baked this morning, take a look at my tan...Hey, Hey, I’m the Gingerbread Man!”
The eponymous newly baked Gingerbread Man is left to cool on the kitchen dresser where he soon makes friends with 'Salt and Pepper' and 'Herr Von Cuckoo', who lives in the clock on the wall. 'The Old Bag', a long forgotten teabag living in the teapot on the top shelf and 'Sleek' the mouse do their best to spoil the adventures of the four friends. Voiced by Andrew Sachs (Fawlty Towers), Jacqueline Clarke and David Wood. This compilation contains the first six episodes
Nellie The Elephant
Based on the character from the famous hit song, Nellie the Elephant follows the adventures of a young and excitable pink circus performer who misses her friends in the elephant herd back in Mandalay. One moonlit night, she hears the head of the herd calling her from far, far away, and so tired of performing for the circus and longing for home, Nellie packs her trunk and begins her journey. Each episode of this charming series chronicles the adventures of Nellie as she takes trains, planes, ships, rockets and even a UFO to get back to her family in the jungle.
The Adventures of Parsley
Twelve nostalgic episodes surround Parsley the cute, loveable lion and his friends Dill the Dog and the other flavoursome herb characters. Set within the same herbidacious garden as its pioneering original (The Herbs), The Adventures of Parsley is definitively different as its host Parsley, actually speaks, rather than merely reacting to the voice and events of others around him. The individual Adventures of Parsley have never been released on DVD without the presence of The Herbs so now’s your chance to season your DVD collection.
The episode compilation has been retained to the exact same order in which they were produced and include, and contains some interactive extras.
