Go rogue as a blue-skinned genetic infantryman on a world of total war in the new third-person shooter from 2000AD publishers Rebellion.
Rogue Trooper
rogue. NOUN: an animal of vicious character that has separated from the main herd and leads a solitary life
SCi Games invites you to take the place of one of British comics’ most iconic creations as 2000ADs genetic infantryman ‘Rogue’ sets a blue foot on a world decimated by a horrific total war.
The new game - from the same people who brought you Judge Dredd: Dredd Vs. Death - is set against the background of the war-torn, totally poisoned planet of Nu Earth in the far future and sees the protagonist (Rogue) as a lone soldier lost behind the heart of enemy lines on a one-man crusade for vengeance.
AWOL
The Rogue Trooper is perhaps more properly called a genetic infantryman (G.I. for short), one of an elite squad of biologically-engineered clone troops (with a distinctive blue colouring) created by the war machine of the ‘Southers’ to overcome the planet's hostile atmosphere and allow the continuance of their fight against the enemy ‘Nort Republic’. After witnessing the betrayal and annihilation of his fellow G.I’s at the Quartz Zone Massacre, during a routine deployment Rogue has gone AWOL, determined to hunt down the traitor who sent his brothers-in-arms to their deaths.
The war on Nu Earth is a seemingly endless futile struggle on a hostile planet with no clear end in sight.
But there are tales of a lone warrior. A man who can appear out of thin air and take out whole platoons, then disappear back into the shadows to which he belongs. A man who knows no allegiance but to his own mission and is hell-bent on revenge.
The ultimate soldier, last survivor of the massacred Genetic Infantrymen...Rogue is armed with the latest experimental weapons, Rogue's arsenal offers him three extra special advantages over his opponents. These are encoded bio-chips containing the digitised personalities of three of his fallen comrades: Gunnar (now stored in his gun), Helm (alive and sentient, if disembodied ion Rogue’s helmet) and Bagman (now residing in the life-support slot in the battle backpack Rogue wears). Each one of these is basically being kept alive for later re-cloning by the support systems in this advanced kit – and in the meantime while in the battle zone they can each offer unique expertise and assistance, allowing Rogue to strategically outwit a sophisticated enemy.
The game blends a mix of intense third person action and next generation stealth elements, with complex line-of-sight AI, multiple game paths, full tactical use of bio-chip operated equipment and both single- and multiplayer/online gameplay.

The hi-tech site is a detailed hub of up-to-the-minute information on the game, allowing you to size-up your opposition with detailed briefs on enemies, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses, plus a tactical tutorial with a video section illustrating a few of the multiple ways to play the game. The site contains a host of downloadable videos, wallpapers and even artwork available on the site, plus a selection of screenshots, including some 360° view shots, which the viewer can navigate around.UK-based computer games developer Rebellion was established in 1991 by brothers Jason and Chris Kingsley. Their most recent launch was the World War II marksmanship title Sniper Elite, in September of last year. Lauded as 'The Gran Turismo of war games' by the gaming press, it has built upon previous Rebellion catalogue games such as World War Zero and Rebellion's first 2000AD title, Judge Dredd: Dredd Vs. Death (2003).
In June 2000 Rebellion purchased the legendary UK science-fiction weekly 2000AD and sister publication The Judge Dredd Megazine, along with its entire character portfolio.
If you're very excited by playing this game, you might also want to check out a great looking mini statue (pictured, right) of the blue-skinned protagonist himself: Rogue, release earlier this year by First 4 Figures. Strictly limited to just 500 pieces worldwide and faithfully sculpted by Simon Robinson to reproduce the comics 'look' of the character - while at the same time not appearing too 'cartoony'. This would look just perfect standing next to the speakers of your PC as you play the new game...Each piece is cast in high quality polystone, hand finished, hand painted to exacting standards, and finished with a hand-numbered base.

This is such a great, atmoshperic game - really in need of a PS3 re-issue to bring it into the whole team deathmatch gameplay field - that would really be something.
For fans of the comics this has it all as far as the 2000AD Nu Earth setting is concerned - Nort and Souther hoppers buzzing overhead and straffing you on the ground, bagman dispensing miscro-mines, gunnar being able to be deployed on overwatch to give support fire while you creep up on your foes from another angle and Rogue being able to fire his GI rifle one-handed - together with all sorts of things that never appeared in 200AD but are great for gameplay: mad upgrades to gunnar included. Plus - a talking hat at the centre of the future war carnage.
This is a title simply begging for online play and leaps ahead of Dredd Vs Death (also well in need of a revamp or sequel). Strontium Dog and Nemesis The Warlock get my vote for the next two to get the rebellion gaming treatment for 2000AD characters - come on guys, get coding!
