My Summer of Love

“Welcome to the best British film of the year!” – FT

One of the most compelling and talked about award-winning British films to be released in the last year, My Summer of Love - starring Natalie Press and Emily Blunt (Henry VIII, Boudica) making their feature film debut is now out to own - from Universal Pictures.

Critics loved the film, The Observer called it: “Captivating”, The Telegraph: “Mesmerising”. Empire, Uncut and Total Film magazines, together with The Express and Times - all awarded it five stars and The Mail on Sunday said it was: “A gorgeous piece of cinema”.

Dead Man’s Shoes

Also starring the award winning Paddy Considine (In America, The Last Resort, Dead Man’s Shoes, 24 Hour Party People), My Summer of Love was written and directed by Pawel Pawlikowski, (The Last Resort) and features a mesmerising soundtrack by Goldfrapp, the Bristol based duo.

An intoxicating tale of obsession and the struggle for love and faith in a world where both seem impossible, My Summer of Love tells the story of – Mona (Natalie Press) and Tamsin (Emily Blunt) and their intense but unlikely friendship. Tamsin is a rich, spoilt fantasist trying to live a life of seductive decadence whilst Mona is rough and witty and keen to get an engine for her moped that she got for a tenner.

Tamsin is charmed and Mona is hooked following a meeting on the moors near their quiet Yorkshire village. Mona’s brother Phil (played by Paddy Considine) used to run a pub but found God and poured away all the booze.

Tamsin and Mona want to escape their lives but Phil wants to save them and save everybody else. Mona wants the old, dangerous Phil back; the brother that she loved. Tamsin wants to see what it takes to break him.

My Summer of Love stormed its way to awards success following its initial screening at the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2004 where it won 'Best New British Feature', the Evening Standard British Film Awards for 'Best Screenplay' and 'Most Promising Newcomer' and the London Critics Circle Film Awards and a BAFTA – The Alexander Korda Award for 'Best British Film'.

My Summer of Love is out now, on DVd, to rent or buy. Pick it up and make sure you have a summer of love!
