Research carried out by a leading UK motor insurer has highlighted a potentially strange link between birth signs and people's driving ability.

The survey looked at nearly 200,000 car accidents over a four-year period and what sign of the zodiac accident victims were born under. Those born under Aries were top of the list for the most accidents - 17,316 - 12% more than Pisceans.

The best drivers were the Scorpios, with 19% fewer accidents recorded than Arians.

A spokesman for the insurer explained: "We analysed a large cross-section of motorists but we will leave it up to the astrological experts to decide whether someone's driving ability is determined by the stars.

"Thankfully, we do not intend to factor this information into future premium rates so those people born under the star signs of Aries and Gemini need not fear. As a Gemini myself, I'm personally pleased about this, but I would suggest that people read their horoscope each day before getting into the car!"
