A beautiful operative on a mission against a totalitarian regime governing a perfect society. But is this perfect life hiding a perfect lie?
Charlize Theron stars as mystery assassin Aeon Flux in the new feature film version of the 90s animated MTV series.
Aeon Flux
400 years in the future, humanity has been decimated by a deadly virus. The survivors live in a protected city-state. Among them is acrobatic super-heroine, on a lonely mission against the leader of the government.
"Thrills and futuristic spills...stunningly original." - Alan Jones, Starburst magazine.
Paramount Pictures' and Lakeshore Entertainment's new motion picture: Aeon Flux is set four centuries in the future, when disease has wiped out the majority of the earth's population except for one walled, protected city-state, the sterile, dystopian Bregna, Ruled by a congress of scientists, Bregna. The story centres on the top operative in the underground 'Monican' rebellion, led by an equally mysterious character known only as ‘The Handler’. When Aeon is sent on a mission to kill a government leader, she uncovers a world of secrets...
"Action-packed! Theron rocks as the slinky killer." - Mark Adams (The Sunday Mirror newspaper).
The film – based on the esoteric animated MTV series of the same name - stars Oscar -winning actress Charlize Theron (Monster, The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, Celebrity, Hollywood Confidential etc...) as the eponymous Aeon Flux – a mysterious, lithe, acrobatic assassin in the Dark Angel mode. Co-starring with her are such notable talents as Marton Csokas (The Bourne Supremacy), Frances McDormand – playing 'The Handler' (Fargo, Blood Simple), Oscar-nominee Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda), Jonny Lee Miller (Trainspotting), and Pete Postlethwaite (The Usual Suspects, Brassed Off).
"It’s easy to file every Xbox title with official movie licensing under A for awful (or atrocious), but Aeon Flux is one of those few mold breakers." - Dale Nardozzi (TEAM XBOX magazine).
Peter Chung
The screenplay for this latest incarnation of Aeon Flux has been written by Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi - based upon the characters created by Peter Chung for his popular futuristic MTV original. This – like the animated version - features a palpitating blend of stealth, speed and acrobatic combat. As beautiful as she is lethal, Aeon Flux is an agent whose abilities transcend everyday belief; she will depend upon those skills and talents to rid the city of Bregna from an evil tyranny!
The MTV show (sometimes billed – confusingly - as: Æon Flux) was comprised originally of short episodes for Liquid TV, then of 30 minute long episodes for the MTV network - from 1995 to 1997, and starred the voice talents of Denise Poirier (as Æon), John Rafter Lee as Trevor Goodchild.
"This is one of those titles that pieces together parts of other, better games, and somehow still comes away feeling a little bit empty." - Kurt Kalata (Armchair Empire magazine).
The film is produced by Gale Anne Hurd, David Gale, Gary Lucchesi, and Greg Goodman. Tom Rosenberg and Van Toffler executive produce. One thing is certain - Aeon is on the front lines of a rebellion that will reveal a world of secrets. This startling vision of a future in flux comes from Karyn Kusama, director of the acclaimed Girlfight.
