Live on stage and on DVD for the very first time, the psychedelic comedy stylings of those Mighty Boosh(es)...

“Scintillating shambles or organized chaos, The Mighty Boosh is the funniest thing you will see this year on stage, television or film. Really.” - Paul Morley, The Sunday Telegraph.

Come with us now – if you will - on a journey through time and space, to the psychedelic space cadet humour world of The Mighty Boosh. Filmed at London’s Brixton Academy as part of the boys’ sell out nationwide tour, The Mighty Boosh - described by NME as “the funniest comedy double-act in Britain” - bring their unique live show to DVD.

Old Gregg

See all the characters from the cult BBC TV show of the same name as they parade about in front of your naked eyes. Recoil in fear at the evil cockney ‘Hitcher’. Dance against your will as ‘Old Gregg’ lures you with his pout of doom. Watch this DVD and you too will witness music, dancing and men talking to each other in wigs. You will be changed forever yet remain exactly the same. The 'Boosh is loose, see it or throw your eyes in the bin.

For those new to the world of the 'Boosh the set up comprises Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt. Together they write and star in a collection of strange adventures - first on the radio, then BBC THREE and BBC TWO. Their Perrier Award-winning comedy (The Mighty Boosh live show was awarded the Perrier Award for 'Best Newcomer' at the 1998 Edinburgh Festival) features Vince Noir - played by Fielding - and Howard Moon - Barratt - as zoo-keepers at the dilapidated 'Zoo-niverse'. Vince Noir describes himself as a 'Mowgli in flares' (with fabulous hair) whereas Howard thinks of himself as the brains of their odd zoo-keeping outfit, a brooding maverick destined for better things.

Obsessed with everything glam rock Vince - when he isn't busy saving Howard from 'Monkey Hell' or befriending wild polar bears in the Artic - is often to be foundbe making sure his crafted hair looks unfeasibly good. Powerful actor, jazz fiend, a maverick who goes his own way – at least that's what Howard thinks...Proceeding through life with an air of Rigsby-esque gloom, his more serious take on life is at constantly at odds with Vince's effortless optimism. As he tries to philosophise his way through his daily zoo-keeping duties and impart his self-perceived wisdom onto his sidekick Vince, the misguided thespian succeeds only in doing more harm than good.

Together, Vince and Howard embark on an array of magical, bizarre adventures - often surreal flights of fancy - all the while battling against the owner of the Zoo-niverse – Dixon Bainbridge (played by Matt Berry) - and his manager Bob Fossil (Rich Fulcher).

Adventures

On their journeys they encounter a range of weird and unusual characters including such fine folk as: the Parka people, mod wolves, the ape of death (who has a severe hair complex) and a the odd terrifying boxing kangaroo...If they are very lucky they are sometimes helped on their adventures by zoo kiosk worker and all-knowing enigmatic mystic, Naboo - played by Michael Fielding. With music and mayhem - it's all in a days work for The Mighty Boosh.

The double disc DVD pack contains the full unedited live show from the night, plus exclusive extras including an in-depth, hour long, behind-the-scenes tour documentary, live footage of Ralfe Band entertaining the Brixton crowd before the show started, an on-the-road tour package as seen on The Culture Show, plus a deleted scene.

More adventures with the duo who never quite leave their own world are available in the form of a 3 CD boxed set: The Mighty Boosh - The Complete Radio Series from BBC Audiobooks. The 'Boosh on radio was the winner of the Douglas Adams Award for 'Innovative Comedy Writing' in 2001 and runs to around three hours of surreal larks.

The Mighty Boosh - Live is in the shops now from NBC Universal DVD, with a running time: 2 hours-plus and a 15 certificate. The Mighty Boosh: Series 1 & 2 is also available as a 4 disc boxed set, from the BBC.
