The follow-up to the number one next-generation game, Call of Duty 3 (CoD) delivers the intensity of being closer than ever to the fury of combat during the historic Normandy Breakout - the campaign that made the liberation of Paris possible and brought the Allies a step closer to Berlin.

Seamless Narrative

Through a seamless narrative that delivers the rush of unrelenting battle and breathtaking action, players assume the roles of four ordinary Allied soldiers - American, British, Canadian and Polish - and are thrust onto an authentic, living battlefield for an unprecedented variety of combat, with advanced high-definition graphics, detailed character animations and explosive on-screen action, delivering the most immersive and cinematically intense war experience ever.

The Power of Next-Gen – Built from the ground-up for next-gen consoles, Call of Duty 3 brings the battle to life with advanced graphics, a new physics engine, a procedural environment and detailed ensemble animations that deliver the most cinematic World War II simulation gaming experience ever.

Key game features include:

  • Battle Actions – An all-new close-quarters battle mechanic allows players to fight hand-to-hand, improvise explosive devices, disarm traps and execute a host of other battlefield situations that require cunning and rapid reflexes to survive

  • Branching Mission Paths – Next-generation level design provides multiple attack routes that let players decide how to confront the enemy – flank an opponent, or hit him head-on. Each unique mission path requires special tactics, from sniping and demolition to all-out head-on clashes

  • Nowhere to Hide – Environmental physics allow players to destroy enemy soft cover hideouts, forcing foes out in the open. But be wary, opponents can eliminate your protective cover as well

  • Team-based Multiplayer with Vehicles – Combined arms and team-based combat provides unprecedented depth and variety by allowing up to 24-players to battle it out online with the option of single or split-screen Internet play. Gamers have the choice to play as infantry or commandeer fully authentic multiple-occupancy vehicles, including tanks, jeeps, and motorcycles with side-cars, leading to unique mobile combat roles for all-out, multiplayer mayhem. Call of Duty 3 also offers soldier classes, each with class specific abilities, and a ranking system for truly diversified squad combat

  • Intensity

Call of Duty 3 brings players closer than ever to the intensity of combat,” said Will Kassoy, senior vice president of global brand management, Activision, Inc. “Gamers will be instantly transported into a seamless narrative, set on a gritty battlefield that features the most highly detailed environments, amazing effects, realistic weapons and soldiers and more for an epic experience.“

As if that wasn't enough wward-winning composer Joel Goldsmith has provided the score to soundtrack this eagerly-awaited. Goldsmith has been nominated for an Emmy for his work on Stargate: Atlantis, with credits that also include Kull the Conqueror, Shadow of a Doubt, Helen of Troy and Witchblade, among many others. Goldsmith’s work with Call of Duty 3 marks his console video game debut in a career that spans more than twenty years.

“Goldsmith is one of the most versatile and talented music composers in the business and we’re excited to have him on board for Call of Duty 3,” said Tim Riley, Activision’s Worldwide Executive of Music. “Fans know to expect a ‘cinematically intense’ experience from the Call of Duty franchise – Goldsmith is the man for the job.”

    Versatile

The son of legendary composer Jerry Goldsmith, Joel collaborated with his father on several projects over the years, most notably on Star Trek: First Contact. The younger Goldsmith launched his career in the late seventies, and began to gain particular notoriety with projects that included The Man with Two Brains (1983) and then later The New Untouchables (1993), allowing Goldsmith to solidify his style, one that has since come to be marked by big, and bold, symphonic scores. A three-time Emmy nominee for his work with TV's Stargate: Atlantis and the series that spawned it: Stargate: SG-1, Goldsmith currently serves as resident composer for the latter.

Get closer than ever to the fury of combat with Call of Duty 3, as you fight through the Normandy Breakout, the Allied campaign that paved the way for the liberation of Paris and the fall of Nazi-occupied Europe. Players will feel the rush of unrelenting action as they challenge German forces from four allied sides through single and multiplayer missions that unfold like a gripping and epic war movie experience.

Call of Duty 3 is available now for the Xbox 360, Playstation3, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 2 and regular Xbox and is rated BBFC 15.
