Tom Baker (Monarch of the Glen, The Lives & Loves of A She-Devil, Nicholas and Alexandra, BlackAdder: Potato, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair, the remake of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) and The Magic Roundabout) will probably always be most widely known for his portrayal of the enigmatic alien time travelling central character from BBC TVs Doctor Who. The longest serving actor (so far!) to play the role, Tom's Timelord career ran from 1974-1981.

Aside from playing the Doctor Tom is perhaps more widely reconised these days for his voice; being the narrator of the smash-hit comedy Little Britain as well as voicing countless radio and television commercials. Also a published author the actor's children's book: The Boy Who Kicked Pigs was well-received as a twisted Roald Dahl type comedy.

Also available on a double CD - with Tom reading - it makes a great listen for children of all ages. All we need now is for the powers that be to convince him to record a word-for-word version of his stunning - and criminally out of print - autobiography Who On Earth Is Tom Baker? for perhaps the ultimate Tom Baker treat. Considering that ‘new and used’ copies of his abridged readings of this book on cassette – also now out of print – are trading for £50-plus on Amazon, it might be time for BBC Audio to get their cheque book out and have a word with those nice folk at Harper Collins? We think so...
