Stockport NHS Trust chairman, Robina Shah, has been elected as a member of the prestigious Council of the NHS Confederation.
The NHS Confederation brings together the full range of organisations that make up the modern NHS. It acts as an independent and powerful force in the drive for better health and healthcare. It does this by: influencing health policy and the wider public debate; supporting health leaders with information-sharing, networking and tailor made services, and promoting excellence in employment to improve the working lives of healthcare staff.

Robina Shah said: “I am delighted to have been elected to the Council and I would like to thank all my colleagues who voted for me – it was a surprise, but it is also an honour. This gives me the opportunity to bring a northwest perspective to the table and to represent the views of my colleagues in the region to The Confederation.
“Stepping Hill hospital has recently been recognised by the Healthcare Commission as one of the top hospital’s in the country but, along with other Trusts, we want to influence the future direction of the NHS so that we can continue to deliver an excellent standard of care to our patients.”
