Oldham’s Finest

Last updated: 05/03/2007 - 10:50

Oldham’s Inspiral Carpets return with a cow-shaped splash - releasing their first ever digital only album; a collection of rarities called Keep The Circle, on Mute records.

With the definitive band line-up of Tom Hingley, Clint Boon, Craig 'Noddy' Gill, Martyn Walsh and Graham Lambert, the band celebrated the release of the new collection by embarking on an eight date tour that included London's Shepherd's Bush Empire - the Inspirals first date in London since their sold out shows in 2003.

The tour coincides with the release of the new exclusive digital album, Keep The Circle. The album comprises the flip sides of their 13 Top 40 singles and various rarities featuring, amongst others, a previously unreleased version of Saturn 5 - featuring Mark E Smith of The Fall - and the first ever Inspiral Carpets recording: Garage Full of Flowers - previously only available as a limited release flexi disc back in 1988 and on the cassette/demo Dung 4 – around the same time..

This year also sees the release on DVD of the group’s legendary 1990 G-Mex show in Manchester where the band performed to 14,000 fans following the release of the timeless debut album Life which had just peaked at number 2 in the album chart.

Singles Band

One of Britain's great singles bands, Inspiral Carpets are the boys that famously gave Noel Gallagher (Oasis) his rock n roll schooling - as their roadie - but more importantly, introduced the mainstream to ‘Madchester’ with a bevy of pop anthems - including the hits Joe, Caravan, I Want You, Saturn 5 and This Is How It Feels, among many many more...

The full Keep The Circle tracklisting looks like this: Garage Full of Flowers (Debris flexi version), Commercial Rain, Directing Traffic, So Far, Planecrash, Out of Time, Move In, Tune For A Family, Seeds Of Doubt, Goldtop, I'll Keep It In Mind, Skidoo, Lost In Space, St. Kilda, The Wind Is Calling Your Name, St Kilda (Instrumental), I Know I'm Losing You, Boomerang, It's Only A Paper Moon, I'm Alive, Saturn 5 (featuring. Mark E Smith from The Fall). Well of Seven Heads. Two Cows Going Down, We Can Do Everything, Inside of You and Cobra (the ‘Satanic Wurlie’ mix).
