Jump feet first into the next generation WWII FPS experience with EA's stunning paratrooper title: Medal of Honor Airborne.
As a member of the Second World War United States’ historic 82nd Airborne Division that big first step when the jump light goes on is everything. Medal of Honor Airborne - the newest (11th) instalment from EA’s critically-acclaimed world-beating First-Person Shooter (FPS) franchise takes the WWII gaming experience to a whole new level that’s – quite literally – sky-high.
Authenticity
While building on the key tenets of the franchise including historical accuracy and authenticity, Medal of Honor Airborne redefines the series by introducing players to an entirely new way of experiencing a WWII FPS – namely the fully interactive Airborne assault experience.
Each mission in the game starts with an airdrop behind enemy lines as players assume the role of Boyd Travers, Private First Class of the 82nd Airborne Division and engage in a variety of paratrooper battles across the European theatre.
Key game features for Medal of Honor Airborne look like this:

Integrity

The Medal of Honor Airborne development team has continued to ensure that the ideals and integrity of the prestigious US congressional Medal of Honor are accurately reflected in the new game – as with previous instalments.
To do this the producers sought counsel from numerous expert sources to make certain the game is historically accurate and as true to the WWII Airborne experience as possible. Serving as a military spokesperson for the title: Capt. Dale Dye, who has worked as the Military Technical Advisor for the last seven Medal of Honor games, will help to create a truly authentic experience.
“Medal of Honor Airborne is a new direction for the franchise introducing innovations that redefine the series as well as impact the FPS genre as a whole," explains Neil Young, VP and General Manager at EALA. “...the new Medal of Honor (is) the first WWII game that allows the player to land anywhere and truly fight the way they want to.”
"Medal of Honor Airborne is a step in a new direction for the franchise. While integrating our state-of-the-art, next-gen technology into every aspect of the game, we are introducing innovations that will redefine the series and impact the genre as a whole," adds Patrick Gilmore, VP and Executive Producer at EALA. "By fully controlling the airdrop from your very first step through landing, Medal of Honor Airborne adds a new dimension of player choice by letting you decide where every mission begins and how it plays out."
Cinematic SoundAs well as the graphics, as usual with MoH tiles, the sound is just as important – which includes the familiar cinematic feel to the score. Once again award-winning composer Michael Giacchino has scored the music for MoH Airborne. An esteemed composer for numerous film and TV projects, including: Lost, Alias, M:i:III, The Incredibles and most recently the animated rat-in-Paris Billy Krystal film Ratatouille, Giacchino has been repeatedly recognised for his contributions to theatrical composition and score.
As the original composer and creator of the memorable theme music for the Medal of Honor series, he helped set the bar for using music to bring emotion into gaming. Giacchino’s extraordinary talents and musical sensibility have been utilized once again to bring a new dimension to the WWII FPS experience of Medal of Honor Airborne.
“I’m very excited to have the opportunity to work on a game that tells such an epic, honest story. The Medal of Honor Airborne team is a very talented group of people and working with them on creating music to fit their innovative game was a true highlight for me,” said Giacchino. “Video games are another vehicle to tell a story, and music plays a vital role in that.”
Pioneering
“Medal of Honor Airborne is delivering innovations that will redefine not only the franchise, but to the entire genre,” said Patrick Gilmore, VP and Executive Producer at EALA. “We are thrilled to have Michael Giacchino on board once again, really bringing the game to life.”
EA's Medal of Honor franchise has been widely credited among gamers and manfacturers with pioneering – and staying at the forefront of - the WWII genre when it debuted back in 1999, bringing a whole new set of expectations from players as to what they get from their wartime action shooters.
First launched in 1999, what turned into the Medal of Honor game series has become one of the most popular, celebrated, and influential first-person shooter franchises in the world. Originally conceptualised by Steven Spielberg (the Raiders of The Lost Ark series, Close Encounters of The Third Kind, ET: The Extra Terrestrial, Munich, Schindlers' List, Jurrasic Park, The Lost World, War of The Worlds etc...) and inspired during the shooting of the film Saving Private Ryan, Medal of Honor launched a whole genre of World War II games as it became one of the best-selling franchises in the Electronic Arts brand portfolio. Combined sales for the franchise so far have topped a staggering thirty-one million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling WWII game series ever.
