Ali Campbell and Ladysmith Black Mambazo have unveiled their official Goal4Africa anthem charity single. The song; Many Rivers To Cross is available now worldwide as a fundraising download.

Recorded at the Allianz Stadium in Munich on 12 July the recording features the legendary voice of UB40, Ali Campbell and world-famous Grammy Award winning, South African a cappella male choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Jimmy Cliff

The live performance of the Jimmy Cliff (The Harder They Fall) song took place following a star-studded football match that launched the Nelson Mandela Foundation's initiative Goal4Africa whose aim is to raise funds through sport for improved education for all in Africa.

Broadcast in over sixty-five countries the game was between two teams captained by Goal4Africa's global and first ambassador, Clarence Seedorf, and Michael Ballack and starred some of the world´s best football players including Van Persie, Boateng, Zé Roberto, Dida and Gattuso alongside Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher. World Team Two, skippered by Ballack, defeated Seedorf's World Team One 9-6 with the first goal scored by former South African President Nelson Mandela's grandson: Sizwe Mandela.

The campaign, which aims to raise more than $90m (£45m) by the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, kicked off to a great start with almost ?900,000 donated over the weekend. Proceeds from the sale of the single will go to Goal4Africa.

Campbell stated: "It's an honour for me to sing Many Rivers to Cross with Ladysmith Black Mambazo. To do so at an event that celebrates Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday, makes this even more special."

Joseph Shabalala founded Ladysmith in 1960 as a male choral group from South Africa that sings in the typical style of South African vocal music. In 1993, at the request of Nelson Mandela, Ladysmith Black Mambazo accompanied the future President of South Africa to the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo, Norway. Mambazo sang again at President Mandela's inauguration in May 1994.

Goal4Africa

Established this year, the Goal4Africa Global Foundation raises funds to build an African Legacy by mobilizing the football world to score goals for Africa in the build up to 2010. Goal4Africa will benefit education and social development through football on the African continent to contribute to the achievement of the 2015 UN Millennium Development Goals. It is inspired by two major upcoming events: Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday, on 18 July 2008, and the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, in 2010.

By bringing together two forces, education and football, Goal4Africa wants to build sustainable change and a lasting legacy for the future of the continent of Africa. Goal4Africa is endorsed by powerful partners worldwide, such as the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Peace and Sport Foundation - under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco. Top football player Clarence Seedorf is Goal4Africa's first and global ambassador.
