The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Based on New Line Cinema's epic adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's classic fantasy trilogy The Lord of The Rings, The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers video game integrate cinema and gameplay to deliver an epic interactive experience.
In the game, players can relive the most memorable movie moments from the first two films, The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers.
Electronic Art's action adventure game allows players to take control of the motion picture trilogy's action heroes: Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli, with other members of the Fellowship taking an active role during gameplay.
In The Two Towers, players battle a variety of breeds of the foul Orcs – the foot soldiers of the Dark Lord Sauron - and square off against vicious boss monsters including the Cave Troll and traitorous wizard Saruman.
Tactical
A tactical gameplay system encourages players to react quickly and be strategic with their selection of characters, weaponry and combat moves.
Middle Earth really comes to life in spectacular detail with over 16 mission locations available to adventure in. Each playing environment has a close visual correlation to that seen in the two films and - as a backdrop to the action - the game features Howard Shore's Academy Award-winning musical score from the Peter Jackson epic!
Key Game Features

The Two Towers is the swift follow-up to last year’s game of the first part of the trilogy. Fellowship of the Ring- also available from EA - is a single player game which places emphasis on role-playing as players follow the storyline of the first volume of Tolkien's saga.
Throughout the Fellowship of the Ring game, the player controls up to nine characters at once with combat being turn-based, like most role-playing style games. A semi-linear structure allows the player to explore and experiment while still experiencing some of the narrative events of the books, allowing the game to be open to greater possibilities while still remaining faithful to the story.
Among the features of features of The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring are:
• Control of all nine members of The Fellowship: Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Gandalf the Grey, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and Boromir.
• Unique character abilities for each fellowship member (such as spell-casting and healing).
• Ability to use the Ring of Power to enhance gameplay.
• A character advancement system that allows characters to gain new abilities and skills, as well as to improve existing ones.
• A unique turn-based combat system that allows players to have as little or as much control over combat as they wish.
• Semi-linear gameplay that allows the player to explore outside the main narrative through sub-quests and choose new solutions to puzzles and problems faced in the books.
The War of The RingAlso of interest to gamers whose appetites have been whetted by the new Two Towers film and game will be the news that Black Label Games, a studio of Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) forthcoming real time strategy (RTS) game based on Tolkien’s most famous works.
VU Games, together with Liquid Entertainment is developing The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Ring its RTS game for the PC platform. The game is being developed through VU Games' long-term agreement with Tolkien Enterprises to create interactive entertainment based on J.R.R. Tolkien's epic trilogy.
Expanding on the world of Middle-Earth and its inhabitants the game will allow players to truly engage in the epic scale of the story, through both “Good” and “Evil” single-player campaigns.
Torrie Dorrell, general manager of Black Label Games says: "The selection of Liquid Entertainment, recognized in the gaming industry for their PC strategy title, Battle Realms, as the developer for The War of the Ring underscores our long-term commitment to creating high-quality titles based on the Tolkien works.” The game is currently expected to be released in early 2004.
Players will also be able to play on both sides in an extensive multi-player mode, fighting some of the massive engagements of the War of The Ring – at Helm’s Deep, Minas Tirith and a host of other locations from the most famous fantasy book sequence of all time.
