James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing

Another chance for gaming would-be secret agents to encounter evil villains, visit exotic locations, carouse with beautiful girls, drive fast cars and fiddle with high-tech gadgetry. That’ll be the new James Bond game then...

What would James Bond do? That's the question players will answer in every dramatic moment of James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing, as the world's greatest secret agent returns in his fifth interactive adventure under the Electronic Arts (EA) brand.

As a player, first, you will need to indulge in a little role-playing. To succeed, you musty start think like ‘Bond, using espionage, infiltration, tactical skills - and gadgets from the laboratories and R&D boffins of Q-Division - to analyze your situation. Then you need to act like Bond, using his stylish skills, clever subterfuge, and bold personality - as well as combat prowess - to once again save the world. Players see every Bond moment from the new third person perspective that shows the real Hollywood cast – rendered as animation - playing out a real-time cinematic action adventure that could only come from the world of James Bond.

No simple shooter, this more closely resembles the gameplay we’ve come to expect from covert ops games like Alias or the Splinter Cell series.

John Cleese

Pierce Brosnan as James Bond 007 leads a stellar cast of talent that includes both actors reprising their ‘Bond film roles and actors creating new roles specifically created for the game.

Returning along with Pierce Brosnan in their film roles are John Cleese as gadgetry quartermaster extraordinaire ‘Q’, Dame Judi Dench as the Bond films’ own head of the British Secret Service ‘M’, and Richard Kiel as legendary villains’ henchman Jaws.

In the role of Bond's new nemesis Nikolai Diavolo is Willem Dafoe (Spider Man, The English Patient, Light Sleeper), joined by Shannon Elizabeth as new cyber Bond girl Serena St. Germaine - and Heidi Klum (pictured, recording her voicovers, above) as the sexy, malevolent Katya Nadanova.

All the cast members contribute voiceovers for their roles, in a similar way to the voiceovers provided for the last Buffy The Vampire Slayer game,Chaos Bleeds, by the cast of that TV show. A To further advance the cinematic feel, amazingly accurate likenesses have been provided for the creation of the on-screen characters by the use of EA's electronic ‘cyberscanning’ process.

"I look forward to returning as James Bond in Everything or Nothing," said Mr. Brosnan. "Playing the role in the interactive realm lets me bring my interpretation of the character to a new generation of Bond fans."

To play out the challenge of thinking and acting like Bond, players will make choices ranging from direct confrontation to subtle misdirection when interacting with enemies. When it comes time for combat, Bond can engage in hand-to-hand fighting, using objects from game environments as weapons, as well as accessing a guns and gadgets.

The discerning player, however, may find a multitude of different options ranging from disguise to distracting guards to using cover - and using these Bond-style tactics to outsmart the bad guys will reward the player with special enhancements including Q-Division gimmickry.

Mya

Other new features include two-player co-op missions and four-player multiplayer arena modes, all set in third person views and featuring multiple playable characters. In addition to all this, what ‘Bond adventure would be complete without a great theme song? This one is no different, with the beautiful, multi-talented Grammy-award winning artist, Mya, who also appears in the game as sultry Bond girl ‘Mya Starling’.

Mya – perhaps best known for her appearance alongside Christina Aguilera, Pink and L’il Kim on the soundtrack for Moulin Rouge, singing on Lady Marmalade (as well as her racy appearance in the accompanying promo.) co-wrote and co-produced the song with Randy Bugnitz and A&M president Ron Fair. Three variations of the theme song appear in the game in a similar manner to the way ‘Bond themes recur in the incidental music in the films.

Mya said: "It was a thrill being part of such a legendary franchise...I've never screamed so much in my life. Maybe someday they'll make an Everything or Nothing movie that I'd love to be in."

Additionally on the music front, Emmy nominated composer Sean Callery has provided the cinematic score for Everything or Nothing. Mr. Callery has lent his talent to such television projects as La Femme Nikita and he is currently the composer for the hit television series 24, for which he recently received an Emmy nomination.
