Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy

Set in a near-future environment dominated by technology and order, the action-packed gameplay is an amalgam of Psi powers and weapons combat. Players take on the role of Nick Scryer, an elite Psi-Operative soldier who must combat the mysterious organisation known only as ‘The Movement’, a fierce psionic terrorist organisation, whose super soldiers are poised to overthrow world order.

Action/Stealth

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy challenges players to use their most powerful weapon - their mind - as they try to master the first action/stealth game to integrate traditional weapons combat with extensive Psionic (psychic, or Psi) mind powers.

The difference here is that, unlike the more usual modern/near future shooter espionage/infiltration games, this one introduces the weird ‘science’ of Psionics into the mix – a heady mix of mind powers that have effects almost indistinguishable from the sort of magic powers rarely seen outside fantasy titles. The crux of the matter is that these missions are meant to be so difficult that a mix of brawn, cunning and Psionics is essential to complete the missions – and get out alive.

The game features a non-linear, open-ended game design, challenging players to use different powers and tactics to complete a specific task. During the action-packed gameplay, players will encounter enemies with sophisticated AI, forcing them to utilise their Psionic abilities in a strategic manner.

Flame On!

The Psi powers in the game will be familiar to role players, science fiction film and fiction buffs - and to a few of the readers of Fortean Times and New Scientist!

They break down like this:

Telekinesis - Basically lifting, holding, moving and throwing objects about the place in any direction – people, weapons, debris...

Pyrokinesis – The ability to control fire – and to launch a wall of fire that ignites everything in its path. Think Drew Barrymore in Firestarter mixed with The Fantastic Four's Human Torch and you’re almost there...Flame on!

Remote viewing - Going ‘out-of-body’ to see through doors, snoop ahead and plan attacks and/or get any information you would not be able to get in physical form – is this the ultimate in stealthy moving? Could be...

Mind drain – A sort of telepathic vampirism that involves actually draining life energy from your opponents. Drain enough Psi power from any enemy and it will result in the death of your opponent/victim

Mind control - Taking actual control of your enemies’ bodies.

Super Soldier Army

As Scryer, players must conquer a programmed super soldier army and its psychic agents while using Psi powers. In addition to Psi capabilities, players have access to the usual variety of traditional firepower - such as handguns and fully automatic weaponry, for those who like their shoot-em-ups to come with plenty of bangs! As players strategically navigate seven huge immersive levels within four distinct compounds, they encounter multiple ways to solve missions, which greatly adds to the replay value.

Action and Stealth Combination - Intense, fast-paced action with strategic stealth elements. The emphasis is on action, with elements of stealth.

Psi Powers - The first and only action/stealth game to integrate weapons combat with extensive and unique Psi mind powers. (see above for details).

Traditional Weapons - In addition to Psi mind control powers, conventional weapons still play a major role in gameplay and combined with the Psi powers create an extraordinary and powerful gameplay dynamic.
