The Button To Push

Another single release from Elephant heralds a return to the UK for the 'Stripes.
The White Stripes - The Hardest Button To Button
The White Stripes latest single The Hardest Button To Button represents one of the finest moments from the band’s wildly acclaimed Elephant album, Backed by the ‘Stripes own inimitable live version of Detroit blues comrades The Soledad Brothers’ song St Ides Of March it’s a winter warmer, wrapped in yet more gloriously striking artwork.
The CD also presents a brand new Michel Gondry directed video for the song - featuring Jack and Meg performing live in and around New York, accompanied by multiple drum kits and amps, the video is ‘the greatest video we’ve ever made’ according to Mr. Jack White himself. No small praise after the likes of the MTV award winning video for Seven Nation Army – and the double exposure experimentalism of the band’s first two promos.
Following tour dates far and wide – from New Zealand to Australia, Japan, Brazil and America, the ‘Stripes will be returning to the UK for dates in the new year. These dates also follow the band’s multiple Grammy nominations and assorted worldwide triumphs touring with one of the undoubted albums of 2003, the monster breakthrough Elephant.
Haunting country-garage band (and fellow Detroiters), Blanche (who have just finished a triumphant support tour with The Handsome Family – and whose debut album If We Can’t Trust The Doctor’s.... will be released by Loose Records in March) will be supporting on all dates.
The band's relationship with Blanche goes back to the days when Jack White and Blanche mainman Dan Miller played together in Goober And The Peas and more recently when the 'Stripes covered Blanche's Who's To Say as a 'b'-side to single I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself.
