A Night At The Palace

Last updated: 03/08/2006 - 13:19

A stunning live DVD release capturing Travis' sell out show at London's Alexandra Palace in December of 2003.

Travis - Travis At The Palace

Travis live at a sell-out show filmed in front of an 8,000 strong enraptured crowd, at London's Alexandra Palace on 20 December 2003.

This special performance marked the end of a busy year for the band, which had seen Fran Healy, Andy Dunlop, Dougie Payne and Neil Primrose playing sell out dates in America and Europe along with major festivals in Japan and Europe, plus writing, recording and releasing their fourth album 12 Memories. The Warner Vision DVD, filmed by Matt Askem, features the concert in full - 21 tracks which clearly illustrate Travis' dynamic live show.

Why Does It Always Rain On Me?

Along with live performances of their hits Why Does It Always Rain On Me? Sing and Driftwood, Travis At The Palace also includes recent material such as Re-Offender, The Beautiful Occupation, and Love Will Come Through.

Since the release of their critically acclaimed debut long-player The Man Who in the early spring of 1999, Scots four-piece Travis have established themselves as one of the best selling British bands of recent years, rising above the cult status their trademark laid back guitar tunes could easily have confined them too. Almost from the start, their status went on to be boosted – from the indie chart success of Writing To Reach You to the Brit Awards in 2000, where they picked up awards for both ‘Best Album’ and ‘Best Band’.

12 Memories

The last year or so has been a period of reflection for Travis, as evident from the songs on the album 12 Memories their most poignant and effecting work to date. The enforced break following band member Neil Primrose’s accident gave Travis both an opportunity to re-group and to reflect on the times in which we live. The resulting songs explore lyrically darker themes, a reaction to today’s unstable social and political climate.

The Sunday Times hailed The Beautiful Occupation as "brilliant...a triumph." - Time Out - boasted it as being "sonically eloquent and emotionally resonant...there's much here to admire."

“Don’t just stand there watching it happening/I can’t stand it/Don’t feel it...” - The Beautiful Occupation.
