With the release of Gillan's Inn, Ian Gillan celebrates an unprecedented career as the quintessential voice of heavy metal. Ian Gillan was the original 'Jesus Christ Superstar', and co-wrote one of the most popular songs of all time: Smoke on the Water among dozens of other hits. He has played to tens of millions of fans and sold over one hundred million records. He is for many the archetypal voice of rock and roll, and has inspired generations of singers. Pavarotti has called him a genius and Pink Floyd frontman David Gilmour has said of him: "...as long as Gillan is singing, rock and roll is not dead".

Gillan enlisted the help of his friends to ensure that the recordings reached their full potential. What resulted amounts to a hard rock summit of epic proportions. This title utilises the DualDisc format to its fullest potential, offering the fans some amazing special features on the DVD side, including the option to choose who plays the solo on Smoke On The Water from a list including Jeff Healy, Joe Satriani, Tony Iommi and more; and an optional track-by-track commentary from Ian himself.

DualDisc has both a CD player side and a DVD playable side, allowing artists to create in exciting new ways using audio, video and computer content - all on a single two-sided disc. The DualDisc system is the first new DVD-orientated format fully supported by all the major labels and independents

One side is the full-length CD audio album. The other side offers DVD content, which plays on all DVD players. This may include enhanced album audio, 5.1 surround sound, music videos, documentary films, lyrics & computer-ready digital song files. Also includes DVD Launcher, access to extras, info about new releases, additional video content, tour news, etc.

The format also contains Dolby headphone encoded AAC files – rip straight to your iPod for simulated surround experience through your headphones.
