New comedy on DVD from the makers of There's Something About Mary - about a groom who may have wanted to wait another week to meet the girl of his dreams...
Do you know what it feels to meet your soul mate on your first honeymoon? Find out by watching Ben Stiller do just that in new comedy The Heartbreak Kid.)
Single and indecisive, Eddie Cantrow - played by Ben Stiller (Meet the Fockers, Meet The Parents, Reality Bites, Along Came Polly, Zoolander, The Royal Tenenbaums, Orange County) begins dating the incredibly sexy and seemingly fabulous Lila.
Upon the urging of his father and best friend, Eddie proposes to her after only six weeks, fearing this may be his last chance at love, marriage and happiness.
Devil In Disguise
However, while on their honeymoon in sunny Mexico, Lila reveals her true beyond-awful nature and Eddie meets Miranda, the woman he realizes to be his actual soul mate. Eddie must keep his new, increasingly horrid wife at bay as he attempts to woo the girl of his dreams.
Here's what some of the critics have made of The Heartbreak Kid so far:
"Uproarious romp, grounded in believable if gleefully implausible human behavior, is a model of comic timing." - Lisa Nesselson (Variety).
"..an indifferent remake of an old Charles Grodin flick...sexism and cringeworthy sexual misadventure abound, as implausibility battles it out with predictability, with only adequately amusing results." - Larushka Ivan-Zadeh (Metro newspaper).
"The sunny setting, attractive leads and reasonably involving story help make The Heartbreak Kid a watchable frippery." - Anna Smith (BBC).
"...hilarious...an uproarious comedy..." - Henry Fitzherbet (Sunday Express).
"...Farrelly Brothers & Ben Stiller's funniest film since 'Mary." (The Sun newspaper).
"Farrelly brothers films are looking better and better, but aren't nearly as funny as their grungy early films that hit with the stealth and vigor of guerrilla commandos." - Kirk Honeycutt (The Hollywood Reporter).
"It made me laugh louder and longer than any romantic comedy in years." - Nicholas Barber (The Independent on Sunday newspaper).
