The Argyll and Clyde Procurator Fiscal Service has been awarded Scotland’s Health at Work ‘Bronze Award’. The service, which has offices in Paisley, Greenock, Dumbarton, Dunoon, Campbeltown and Oban is a Department of the Scottish Executive which provides Scotland's independent public prosecution and deaths investigation service.
The National Scotland’s Health at Work Programme (SHAW) is a free national award scheme, which rewards businesses and organisations who take steps to improve the health of their workforce. Run by the NHS in Scotland, it was set up in 1996 to address Scotland’s poor health record and boost Scotland’s image as an international business location. Over a quarter of the entire Scottish workforce now participate in the scheme.
Staff Health & Wellbeing
Sharon McKenna, the Argyll & Clyde NHS Senior Health Promotion Officer said: "The Procurator Fiscal Service for the Argyll and Clyde area have done an excellent job in achieving the SHAW Bronze Award. They provide an example of what can be achieved in a workplace setting and I wish them continued success as they endeavour to build a healthy local workforce. By addressing staff health and wellbeing employers are increasingly recognising the business benefits of adopting a more pro-active approach. To achieve an award, enthusiasm and participation by employees in the organisation is necessary, as well as management commitment to health promotion."
John Miller, Area Procurator Fiscal for Argyll and Clyde said: "I am very pleased that Argyll and Clyde Area has been awarded the SHAW ‘Bronze Award’. All staff in the Area will benefit from the ongoing efforts we are making to provide information and advice about better health in and out of the workplace. We will keep up our involvement with SHAW and aim to achieve the silver award this year."
The National Scotland’s Health at Work Programme is open to all workplaces in Scotland and is free to join. Local Health Promotion Departments offer advice and support throughout the scheme.
