One in four people looking for a new home are house-hunting online, according to a new survey. As more Brits look for a new place to live from the comfort of our homes, the number of people who use their car to view properties has declined to one fifth.

Over the past five years, the internet has grown as a lifestyle tool for British people. The survey, by Legal and General shows that only 3% of potential buyers used the internet five years ago, compared with 24% today.

Despite all this modern technology, some things never change. Estate agents still remain the most popular place to look for a house, with 68% saying they would make them their first port of call, almost unchanged from 69% five years ago.
