Generous staff from West Yorkshire Probation have donated over £1,100 pounds to charity as part of an ongoing savers club.
The staff who work at West Yorkshire Probation Board Head Office in Wakefield pay into a savers club each month with the interest earned on the account being donated to a charity of their choice. Over the last year, £1166.00 was raised, and it was decided that the donation should go to Cancer Research UK.

Hue Lee, a member of the Probation finance team said: “The Savers club started out as a small savings club run for the finance team, but we decided a few years ago to offer it to the whole of West Yorkshire Probation. Each year we collect all the interest raised on the balance and donate it to a charity of our choice. This year we had a vote on who it should go to and we decided upon Cancer Research.”
A cheque presentation was made to Sally Hudson, the regional representative of Cancer Research-Wakefield and Leeds division.
On receiving the cheque, Sally said: “On behalf of Cancer Research UK, I’d like to thank the staff of West Yorkshire probation for choosing to support us this year. The money donated will go towards our research throughout West Yorkshire. We fund the work of 3,000 doctors, scientists and nurses around together to find new and better cures for all types of cancer.”
