Alison Rose and Tony Guy are the first ever husband and wife team to produce a low-fat cook book in the UK. The result? The domestic Goddess Nigella Lawson and the Naked Chef Jamie Oliver now have to compete with 'The Low-Fat Couple': "We love their books, they're nice and all, but let's face it, some of their recipes are a bit high in fat," says Alison.

New figures have recently revealed more people in the UK than ever before are overweight and obesity levels are skyrocketing. These shocking figures also show more children are overweight than ever before. "We thought we'd offer people an easy, fun and low-fat option. We want to say: 'Hey you don't have to feel guilty if you want to be both a domestic Goddess and eat low-fat or be naked but still naughty!'" says Alison.
Luscious - The Low Fat Cook Book, preaches a 'no diet' concept to healthy eating. Colourful and easy to use, it gives budding low-fat cooks inspiration and comes complete with easy-to-follow tips and ideas. "Forget diets - research shows you only have a 5% chance of staying on them and achieving weight loss" says Tony. "You don't have to eat cardboard, you can work it into your lifestyle and we even offer top tips for stocking your kitchen cupboard and making shopping lists."
Helpfully, the book is also interactive, offering email support and advice for when things in the kitchen get tricky. "We love the email idea because I've tried the recipes of some of the UK's famous authors and I get a little confused when I can't make it work...we want people to have access to us all the time," says Alison.
Recipe Ideas
Included in the book are recipes for things like slim-hip chips, date and apple meringue pies, pastas, soups - inluding a fabulous Thai Inspired Chicken Noodle - pizzas, chocolate marshmallow brownies, pea guacamole, chicken risotto, smoothies, party dips, cranberry mayo, french-toast, banana and sultana pancakes, cheese cakes, soups, stir-fries, sandwiches, dressings and salads - all low-fat and all totally decadent.
Alison is a former TV news anchor for Sky News Australia who has worked in Asia and England. Tony has been a TV reporter and radio presenter for stations in Australia, Asia and England. The pair arrived in London in 1998 with the idea of setting up Europe's first low-fat cafe chain. They now have 11 low-fat shops and two organic convenience stores.
