Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller, Cillian Murphy and Cillian Murphy star in John Maybury’s powerful new love story based on the life of poet Dylan Thomas.

John Maybury’s powerful love story The Edge Of Love starring Academy Award Nominee Keira Knightley (Pride and Prejudice, Pirates of the Caribbean, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Atonement, King Arthur, Bend It Like Beckham), Sienna Miller (The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, Factory Girl, Interview), Cillian Murphy (Sunshine, Batman Begins, The Wind that Shakes the Barley) and Matthew Rhys (Brothers and Sisters, Abduction Club) opens nationwide this month.

Dylan Thomas

A beautifully drawn love story shot partly on location in New Quay and Lampeter, the film revolves around two feisty, free-spirited women - Caitlin Thomas and Vera Killick - with Vera’s husband William Killick and the brilliant, charismatic poet Dylan Thomas - who loves both women. Broken promises, passion, betrayal, the shadow of war and the constant threat of imminent death provides a vivid setting for The Edge of Love.

By no means a 'biopic' in the traditional vein, the story explores the collision of the bohemian underworld of war-torn London, and the intimate complexities of two young couples whose lives and loves become dangerously intertwined...

John Maybury

The Edge of Love is directed by the award-winning John Maybury (Love is the Devil, The Jacket) and produced by Rebekah Gilbertson and Sarah Radclyffe. The screenplay is by Sharman MacDonald. The impressive production team includes Director of Photography Jonathan Freeman (Hollywoodland, Rome), Academy Award nominated Costume Designer April Ferry (Southland Tales, Donnie Darko), Production Designer Alan MacDonald (The Queen, Love is the Devil) and editor Emma Hickox (Becoming Jane, Kinky Boots), with music by Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks, Wild at Heart, Mulholland Drive, A Very Long Engagement).

Shot in London and Wales in several of the locations where Thomas lived and wrote, The Edge of Love is financed by Capitol Films, BBC Films, Wales Creative IP Fund, administered by Finance Wales, and Prescience Film Finance.

The Edge Of Love is in cinemas nationwide from 27 June, rated 15.
