Your Charity Needs You!

Last updated: 05/09/2007 - 09:56

The Civil Service Retirement Fellowship (CSRF) has been around for nearly 40 years, providing social opportunities for thousands of retired civil servants, their widows or widowers and dependants. Being an occupational charity we rely heavily on the co-operation of serving civil servants to help promote our charity within departments and agencies.

Without this assistance, we would have a difficult time making civil servants aware of the work we do. If you already help to promote the CSRF one way or another within your department, then thank you! If not, read on to find out the different ways in which you could help.

HR/Welfare staff

HR and welfare staff really are the key to promoting the CSRF to people at the point of retirement. You could help by doing one or more of the following:

  • Mentioning the CSRF in the standard letter sent out to those approaching retirement.

  • Putting a CSRF leaflet in with mailings sent to those approaching retirement.

  • Displaying information about the CSRF on the HR/welfare pages of the intranet.

  • If you run pre-retirement courses, the CSRF can provide you with literature for display and, where possible, a speaker to take up a 15 minute slot.

  • Agreeing to take delivery of our national magazine, avanti. Published quarterly, avanti contains a mix of CSRF news, lifestyle features and competitions. We are happy to send as many copies as you require. You could display them in communal staff areas, distribute them to those approaching retirement or display them at pre-retirement courses.

  • If you wish to discuss any of the above options, or other ways in which you can help, call either Lizzie or Steve on 020 8691 7411 or email mailto: info@csrf.org.uk

    Journal & Magazine Staff

Are you involved with putting copy together for your departmental magazine? Perhaps you are an editor or writer? We are always looking for publicity in departmental magazines and regularly send out press releases about new initiatives or developments. If you would like to be added to our press release list, or are interested in running a feature on the CSRF, please contact Lizzie or Steve on 020 8691 7411 or send an email mailto: lizzie.wrobel@csrf.org.uk

    Intranet Staff

Intranets are a key way of raising awareness of the CSRF amongst civil servants. Hyperlinks in intranet articles mean that readers are just one click away from the CSRF website and all the information stored there. Some intranets have us listed under welfare or social sections and some cover us in news stories on intranet homepages.

This has proved to be particularly effective, driving considerably more people to look at our site and find out about the CSRF. If you would like to be added to our press release list, or want to promote the CSRF on your intranet, please call Lizzie or Steve on 020 8691 7411 or send an email mailto: lizzie.wrobel@csrf.org.uk

    All Civil Servants

If you want to help promote the CSRF in your workplace, have a think about the following:

  • Would you be willing to distribute copies of avanti, our national magazine, to staff in your office?

  • Could you organise a fundraising event to raise money for the CSRF?

  • Is the CSRF promoted on your intranet? If not, talk to the intranet people in your department!

  • We would love to hear from any civil servants who would like to promote the The Civil Service Retirement Fellowship (CSRF) within their workplace. For more information please call Lizzie or Steve on 020 8691 7411 or email mailto: info@csrf.org.uk
