Supermarkets aisles are a great place to learn about love. No honestly, think about it...

Supermarkets are experts in the art of seduction. Soft, lilting music lulls us into a state of relaxation, while delicious home-baked aromas piped out through the air vents from the in-store bakery draw us towards the breads and cakes. Supermarkets invest millions in researching how to break down the shopper's psychological barriers. This makes the supermarket a great place to look for love.

The best time to visit the supermarket in search of single people is after 7pm. During the day and early evening, the aisles are jam packed with housewives, families and couples.

If you do find love in the aisles, here are a few tips on approaching the shopping god or goddess of your dreams:

  • Be friendly and brief

  • Only approach people who return your eye contact, to avoid appearing threatening

  • Don't be too persistent

  • Products are good conversation starters. You might like to ask for advice on how to prepare a particular dish.

  • Most women will be flattered. It also shows that you are cooking for yourself - in other words, single.

  • Whether you pick up a date or just your weekly shopping, supermarkets are a novel place to find romance.
