'A journey shared, is a journey halved', for public servants participating in a special commuting scheme!
The Roads Service Travelwise NI Car Share scheme - launched to the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) in June 2005 - is going from strength to strength.
Attracting members from all Government Departments, more than 900 staff have now registered - including 34 car share pools.
Based on this group’s performance, the total savings include: -
The Travelwise NI Team is keen to encourage an ever wider take-up of the initiative, with several major hospitals and District Councils, interested in a car share scheme for their own staff, making contact with the Travelwise NI Team.
A discussion with these organisations is underway, with the NICS scheme proving to be a valuable role model.
