Test Fees On The Increase

Last updated: 21/09/2006 - 14:19

The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) is increasing its fees for practical car and motorcycle tests.

Standard driving test fees rise from 1 April by 50p for the theory test, taking it from £21 to £21.50, and three pounds for the car practical test, taking it from £45.50 to £48.50. The motorcycle practical test will rise by three pounds to £58.00 and lorry and bus practical tests will rise by four pounds to £89.

Details are as follows:

Theory test (Previous fee: £21.00) - new fee: £21.50

Car practical test (Previous fee: £45.50) - new fee: £48.50

Motorcycle practical test (Previous fee: £55.00) - new fee: £58.00

Lorry and Bus practical test (Previous fee: £85.00) - new fee: £89.00

Practical tests for driving instructors (Previous fee: £79.00) - new fee: £82.00

Theory test pass certificates for non-DSA examiners (Previous fee: £12.00) - new fee: £14.00

The DSA is a self-funding organisation and receives no revenue from taxation. All of its costs must therefore be covered through driving test fees. The increase will allow DSA to continue improving both the quality and efficiency of the services it provides to drivers.
