Biker Boyz
Calling all petrol heads! This may just be the DVD for you...Hot on the heels (wheels?) of the release of 2 Fast 2 Furious comes yet another underground street racing picture. Biker Boyz is an action-packed contemporary Western on wheels with desperados who live every day on the edge.
In the world of underground motorcycle clubs, the undefeated racer known as Smoke (Laurence Fishburne) is the undisputed King of Cali. But Smoke's dominance of the set is about to be threatened by a young motorcycle racing prodigy called Kid (Derek Luke), who is determined to win Smoke's helmet and earn the coveted title.
Laurence Fishburne
Biker Boyz stars Academy Award nominee Laurence Fishburne (What's Love Got to Do With It, The Matrix and The Matrix: Reloaded) as Smoke. Derek Luke, who recently won praise for his feature film debut in the title role in the feature Antwone Fisher, appears in the role of Kid.
The film also stars Orlando Jones (Drumline), Djimon Hounsou (Gladiator), Lisa Bonet (Enemy of the State), Brendan Fehr (Final Destination), Larenz Tate (Love Jones) and Kid Rock (Joe Dirt). The main cast also includes: Rick Gonzalez (The Rookie), Meagan Good (Eve's Bayou), Sally Richardson-Whitfield (Antwone Fisher), Vanessa Bell Calloway (The Brothers), Dante Basso (Extreme Days), Deon Basso (Love & Basketball), Tyson Beck ford (Zealander) and Titus Deliver (TV's That's Life).
Major Studio
Biker Boyz marks the first major studio feature to be directed by Reggie Rock Blythewood, whose film debut, Dancing in September, was an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival and premiered on HBO last year. Blythewood, whose credits as a screenwriter include Spike Lee's Get on the Bus, also co-wrote the screenplay with Craig Fernandez.
Loosely based on a New Times article of the same name - penned by Michael Gouges - Biker Boyz is produced by Stephanie Allan, Gina Prince-Blythewood, Erwin Stuff, and 3 Arts Entertainment, with Don Kurt serving as the executive producer.
