"The Peugeot 206D Turbo has a wonderfully clean, stylish look that is so good to find in a car of it’s class" raves Lesley Ainsworth.
"Lets face it - looks matter, whether it’s your first glimpse of a significant other or picking out a new 3 piece suite. It’s always subjective of course but there is a general consensus on what constitutes good design and judging from the success of the Peugeot 206, be they new or used, popular opinion says they’ve got IT. Personally, I couldn't agree more. It’s a wonderful clean, stylish look that will stay fresh for a long time to come and so good to find in a car of it’s class.
"Beauty, however, can be only skin deep, so what about under the bonnet? My test model had a 1997cc turbo diesel engine delivering a respectable 90 bhp, no racing machine but certainly adequate for most users with a claimed top speed of 112mph and 0-62mph time of 11.2 seconds. Increasingly important are the CO2 emissions (136g/km ) and fuel consumption figures, an impressive combined drive cycle return of 56.5mpg. Thank God, the days of billowing black smoke and loud rattles for so long associated with diesel engines are a thing of the past but even so, I found this model to be particularly quiet and civilised."
Equipment & Interior
"Interior trim options for this range are numerous and the test car interior was pleasant enough including as it did leather steering wheel and gear knob and sports front seats. Ah yes, the seats. I could not for the life of me get the back of the drivers seat into a comfortable, upright position, though I admit this may be because I failed to find the magic switch , knob or button which would have instantly made things right. Can you make this idiot proof please Peugeot?
"One other quibble , the proximity of the clutch pedal to base of the steering column meant that I could feel movement of the column every time the clutch was depressed at the same time. And before you ask, no, I do not have size fifteen feet and go by the name of Coco The Clown!"
Value For Money
"My test car came complete with metallic paint and an electric sunroof as factory fitted options at an on the road price of £12,695. In a nutshell - This car has great looks, reasonable handling and performance, very good fuel economy, pleasant interior with an increasing number of 'whistles and bells' make for a value for money car today and one which should hold it’s value well in the future."
